'Memoirs of a Geisha' is one of my all time favourite movies. The story follows a young girl who grew up in a small fishing village in Japan, her mother dies when she is very young, subsequently her and her sister are sold to two different geisha houses as their father can no longer afford to look after them. The rest of the story looks at what life is like for the girl growing up in a world she feels like she doesn't belong in. I like this movie because it shows the girl's full story and not just a small part of it, you see the character at her worst, and at her best, because of this the viewer can get a full sense of what it's like to live this girl's life. You also see her fully bloom from a young, and somewhat naive little girl to a fully flourished young woman. I also like this movie because it is essentially a love story and my favourite move genre is romance!
